Sterling began painting, designing, and creating murals and wall graphics for the many emerging Silicon Valley companies in the early 70’s. He developed a number of original and innovative mural techniques and concepts in his quest to humanize their typically corporate gray on gray with gray accents environments. He experimented and developed his art using the creative new directions in the large scale digital realm of art and murals that were ironically being developed and financed by many of his original corporate clients during that time. His work eventually evolved into more complex projects, developing digitally created historical murals and curating museum collections.
Throughout his career he created murals throughout the United States and the world including New York City, Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Barbados, Paris, and even Elma, WA. A partial list of his clients include Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Sony, Lockheed-Martin, Varian, Apple, Honeywell, and The United States Navy.
Sterling and his artist wife, Nancy, are living in Grants Pass, OR enjoying being able to take the time to explore new directions in their art without the deadlines or traffic jams and occasionally still getting to create fun and unusual projects offered from past clients.
